Jim Adams has served on the Board of Supervisors as the Blackberry District Supervisor since 2002, and his third term expires December 31, 2013. Mr. Adams will serve as the Board of Supervisors' Chairman for 2012. He previously served as the Chairman in 2008 and served as Vice Chairman in 2003, 2005, and 2007.

Mr. Adams also serves on the West Piedmont Planning District Commission and has previously served on the Henry County Board of Zoning Appeals and the Henry County Schools Facilities Improvement Committee. He currently is serving on the Bassett Housing Rehabilitation Board which helps oversee the more than $997,000 housing rehab project in the Riverside Drive area of Bassett.

Mr. Adams is a member of the Sanville Ruritan Club and is the 2011-2012 president of the Bassett Kiwanis Club. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors of MARC Workshop, the Executive Board of the Early Childhood Learning Initiative in Martinsville, and the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Patrick Henry Volunteer Fire Department and is an Elder at Stella Christian Church.

Mr. Adams is the branch manager and oversees procurement for Tarheel Paper and Supply in Martinsville. He is married with two children and two grandchildren.
