Emergency 911 Telecommunicator
The Martinsville-Henry County 911 Communications Center is seeking to fill the full-time position of Emergency 911 Telecommunicator. This highly stressful position includes dispatching police, fire and rescue personnel in response to emergency situations. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, multi-task, receive and transmit information accurately and clearly, work independently, and have knowledge of the geographical area. Education equivalent to graduation from high school is required, in addition to pre-employment testing. Experience in data entry, general computer knowledge, radio and telephone communications equipment, and the ability to type 35 wpm is preferred. A thorough background investigation of the finalist(s) is required. Applicants who are offered employment must successfully complete entry-level Telecommunicator training, as well as, VCIN (Virginia Criminal Information Network) certification at the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy. Work schedule will vary according to the needs of the 911 Communications Center. Starting salary of $27,018.95, plus excellent benefits.
