Children's Services Coordinator

County of Henry is looking for individual to coordinate and monitor mandatory services provided to at-risk youth and families under the Children’s Services Act.  Knowledge of human services management and current social, economic, and health challenges and resources available to children and families with special needs.  Ability to prepare budgets and monitor expenses.  Knowledge of Children’s Services Act services and programs.  Position serves Henry County, Patrick County and Martinsville City. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in social work, public health, or related field; three to five years experience and/or training in human services or social work; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Emergency 911 Telecommunicator

The Martinsville-Henry County 911 Communications Center is seeking to fill the full-time position of Emergency 911 Telecommunicator. This highly stressful position includes dispatching police, fire and rescue personnel in response to emergency situations. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure, multi-task, receive and transmit information accurately and clearly, work independently, and have knowledge of the geographical area. Education equivalent to graduation from high school is required, in addition to pre-employment testing. Proficiency in data entry, general computer knowledge, and experience in the use of radio and telephone communications equipment, is preferred. A thorough background investigation of the finalist(s) is required. Applicants who are offered employment must successfully complete entry-level Telecommunicator training, as well as, VCIN (Virginia Criminal Information Network) certification at the Piedmont Regional Criminal Justice Training Academy, and Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification. Work schedule will vary according to the needs of the 911 Communications Center. Firefighter / EMS Provider

Henry County Department of Public Safety is seeking to establish an applicant pool to hire additional full-time and part-time Firefighters/EMS Personnel for current and future vacancies. Qualified applicants must possess broad knowledge of firefighting and EMS procedures, practices, and appropriate use of related equipment. Must possess exceptional problem solving and communication skills and must work effectively with people while maintaining composure during emergency events.  Current Virginia certified firefighters and ALS providers will be given preference.  Any applicant not possessing current Virginia certifications as a Firefighter II must be willing to obtain this certification within 2 years of employment at their expense and on their own time.  High School Diploma or equivalent required along with a Valid Driver’s License. Salary up to $16.55/hour, based on applicant’s current credentials and experience plus excellent benefits. General Maintenance Worker

County of Henry is seeking an individual to fill the position of General Maintenance Worker. Individual must be able to do carpentry, painting and general maintenance repair as well as mowing and ice/snow removal. High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with three to five years of related experience and/or training in general maintenance field required. Convenience Center Site Monitor
