PART Bus Expanded Service Underway
RADAR, the company that operates the Piedmont Area Regional Transit (PART) public transportation service is pleased to announce that an expanded, three route system is underway, effective Monday, April 24. The city of Martinsville and Henry County approached RADAR in 2016 about adding an additional southern route due to demand from residents along the Greensboro Rd/US 220 corridor. The new route, along with changes to the two current routes that operate in Martinsville and Collinsville/Henry County will provide more effective, efficient service to more individuals than the previous service.
These changes include stops at previously unserved locations such as: Dollar General/Food Lion on Greensboro Road, the Community Storehouse, Tractor Supply, Fisher Farm Road, Joseph Martin Highway, Glenn Ridge Apartments, Richwood Apartments, Rivermont Heights, Department of Motor Vehicles, Southern Area Agency on Aging, Piedmont Community Services, Main St, FAHI, Virginia Workforce Center, Grace Networks, Northview Gardens Apartments, Stultz Road, and Maplewood Apartments.

PART is a deviated fixed-route system that runs 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The usual fare is 50 cents per trip. It is managed by RADAR of Roanoke, a non-profit organization that has organized and maintained both public and private human service transportation for more than 40 years.
The Piedmont Area Regional Transit (PART) system serves Henry County and the City of Martinsville. Three buses are in operation Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the fee is $0.50 per trip (no charge for children under age 6). All buses are handicapped/ADA compliant and operators are certified in wheelchair assistance, defensive driving, and CPR. Qualified riders may request that the bus deviate from the normal route (up to 0.75 miles) for pick-up or drop-off. All three buses converge in the Wal-mart parking lot t the bottom of each hour, allowing riders to change buses.
