Adult Canoe Fun Floats

This event will be held on Sept. 4th and Sept. 18th at the Martinsville Reservoir. Space is limited to 10 participants. Pre-registration is required. The cost for this class is $10. Call (276) 634-4640 for more information.

Senior Bowling Appreciation Day

We appreciate those seniors who are bowling on the senior leagues and would like to encourage additional senior participation in the leagues. We invite anyone 50 years of age and older to bowl with us at Sportlanes for free.

First Fridays at the Lanes

First Fridays at the Lanes is held at the Sportlanes in Martinsville. Each game of bowling is $1.00.

Drop-In Health Screening for seniors

Privacare will conduct a free blood sugar screening at the Henry County Administration Building in room #1. This is for adults 50 years and older.

Senior Fall Golf Tournament

This event is for adults ages 50 and above. It is a $10 entry fee for members and $16 entry fee for non-members. The tournament will be held at the Beaver Hills Golf Course. The rain date is Sept. 10th.

Art of the Month for seniors

Join us for our monthly classes with Karen Eggleston, QVC artist, at the Collinsville Branch Library on the third Monday of each month. You will make something at each class that is unique and makes a great gift. Space is limited so pre-register early. Classes listed below:

The Out-To-Lunch Bunch is open to all adults ages 50 and above. Each individual is responsible for the cost of lunch. These are the dates and locations:

Senior Ladies Safety & Firearms Class

This class is for ladies ages 50 and above. Information will be provided on gun safety and ladies will have an opportunity to shoot at the range. You are required to furnish your own firearm, bullets or blanks and transportation to the shooting range. Pre-registration is required by calling (276) 634-4644 no later than Aug. 29th. This will be held at the Henry County Sheriff's Office conference room. The shooting range is located on Jack Dalton Road.

Start Smart Soccer is for children ages 4-6. They will learn the basics of playing soccer. This will be held on each Thursday, starting on Sept. 18th and ending on Oct. 16th. The class will be held at the National Guard Armory and the cost is $35. Pre-registration is required.

Walgreens is partnering with HCPR to make vaccines more accessible to the seniors in our community. Walgreens will be at the Henry County Administration Building in room #1 administering flu, shingles and pneumonia shots. They will accept Medicare Part B, Medicare Part D and cash.

Youth Passport Challenge

Join us at the Smith River Sports Complex on Sunday, Sept. 28th for the Youth Passport Challenge. Attendees will go through a scavenger-hunt like course with games, sports, arts, crafts, snacks, music and much more! This is for children ages 8-18. This is a free event.

iPhones, iPads and Android Devices - Technology on the Move

Join HCPR and the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office for a class on how to use these devices. Please be sure to bring your device to class with you or let us know if you need to borrow one while in class. Please call (276) 634-4644 to register. This is a free course and it will be held at the Henry County Administration Building in room #2.
