U-Visa and T-Visa Policy

U-Visa and T-Visa Policy

U-Visas and T-Visas are forms of temporary immigration relief through the United States Customs and Immigration Service Administration. Under these programs, Department of Homeland Security determines who is and is not eligible for relief. The “U non-immigrant status” (the “U-Visa”) is for victims of a variety of crimes, including domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, involuntary servitude, and other serious offenses. The “T non-immigrant status” (the “T-Visa”) is for human trafficking victims.

For more information on these programs, the Department of Homeland Security has a website with resources for law enforcement. Click Here

The Henry County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office will follow the procedures set forth in Virginia Codes §9.1-1500, §9.1-1501 and §9.1-1502 when processing U-Visa or T-Visa requests.

Requests should be directed to M. Andrew Nester at: 3160 Kings Mountain Road, Suite D, Martinsville, Virginia 24112, by email at: anester@co.henry.va.us or by telephone at (276) 634-4500.
