Application for Probate Appointment

The Application for Probate Appointment (PDF) will help you to think through all of the possible assets and heirs for an estate before you come in.

All recordings of wills and estate qualifications (legally being granted the power of Administrator/Executor) must be completed by appointment. Please request an appointment by calling our office at 276-634-4880 and selecting option 4.

Obtaining Your EIN#

All money received by the Administrator/Executor of an estate must be deposited into an estate checking account. You will need an EIN# from the IRS to open the estate checking account. To obtain an EIN#, go to: EIN Individual Request - Online Application (irs.gov).

Please print the certificate at the end to take to the bank of your choice along with the letter of qualification received during your appointment and open the account.
