#TrailStories
We are seeking videos from our trail users sharing how and why they love the Henry County/Martinsville trails. The videos will be used in a future campaign to brag about our trails and outdoor offerings. We are looking to expand the trail system and funders like to know their investments are going to communities that use and appreciate these additions. Our working committee will award a $100 gift card for up to the first 10 videos considered acceptable.
The recommended length of the video is a minute or less.
Useful Tips:
- Think about what you plan to say. You can feel free to even “script” your thoughts so you can avoid delays and the common pauses we all fall into when talking without a plan (ums, likes, errs).
- Practice makes perfect. We’re not saying that you should put a bunch of time into this, but a few practice runs can help you create a video that is a great expression of your love for the trails.
- Tell us who you are at the end of the video---your first name and where you live (general location, i.e., Bassett, Figsboro, Uptown). Keep it simple, but this info also personalizes the video.
- Use a selfie stick or have a friend be your camera person. It’s always nice to see the trail in the background.
- Avoid facing the sun so you don’t squint, but also make sure you are not in shadow.
- Have fun with it! Feel free to share your emotions and delight.
- Pairs and groups are encouraged! If you have a group you regularly walk with, rally them, identify a spokesperson, and let us know how you enjoy the trail together!
If you have a young person in your video (under 18), make sure you fill out the video release form on the website.
